Pre-Launch Checklist At the beginning of each boating season, there’s a list of necessary maintenance steps and safety checks. However, there are also some quick checks you should do every time you put your boat in the water. + Top off the fuel tank. Believe it or not, running out of fuel is the biggest single boating hazard. + Perform a cursory overall inspection. We’re not talking about an hour-long inspection, just a quick once-over. + Check the bilge, looking for water or fuel. + Test all systems. Before loading, make sure the engine, blower, bilge pump and lights are all running smoothly.
+ Don’t forget to
insert the drain plug. It sounds obvious, but go ahead and check it
anyway.
